{ABOUT Bless Your Heart Designs}

2020 brought about so many challenges for everyone. Being furloughed from work left me wondering what might be a good next step. With the encouragement of my husband, I am now my own boss.

So, what is UPCYCLING and FLIPPING about?  We all live in a disposable culture, but so much of what is tossed out or donated still has some good years left to serve - and only needs someone to reimagine what it COULD be and keep it from the dump or burn pile. That's where I step in. Although I don't have a super hero cape, I do swoop in to rescue rusted, wobbley, outdated or broken items.

An item is plopped on my workbench, and I step back with my hands on my hips and tilt my head to one side as I reimagine what COULD be. Painting, sanding, sketching, sawing and then TA-DA, something destined for the junk pile... has a second chance at a useful or whimsical design/function.

Being my own boss sounds super cool, but let's face it - I really shouldn't be left to my own devices. So, I've offered the business - from top to bottom, to God. While I work on pieces in silence, God and I talk a lot. I pray for the next family who will use this item. Sometimes, I hide a scripture in the design. Even the simplest things we do can be a ministry.

2021 brought some big news: Most of my items are now available to view and purchase in booth 1006 at the Cottonwood Market, located at 101 S. Coit Road, Richardson, TX 75080. They are open 7 days a week.

Secondly, I am now doing custom work. If there is something you are looking for and don't see, I can add it to my hunting list.. I can do custom finishes, stains or paint. I also can help you reimagine items you have that need a little "help".

So let's dive in and see what kind of shenanigans we can get into.
